Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, by J.K. Rowling

J.K. Rowling is on a roll! This is now the sixth book that she has written about Harry Potter, and it could very well conclude the whole series if Rowling hadn't come up with even better ideas! I'm definitely not disappointed after buying this book.

The book starts off mysteriously, with Harry being transported to The Burrow during summer vacation. Strangely, Dumbledore sports a severely damaged right hand which he declines to explain to anybody. Over the year, Draco Malfoy mysteriously disappears and reappears within the school grounds, and Harry starts to investigate. Later on in the year, two people were brutally cursed and poisoned, and the situation becomes stranger. At the end, Dumbledore asks Harry to go on a quest with him to find all of the Horcruxes and bring an end to them, but little did they know that their mission would ultimately bring an end to themselves.

J.K. Rowling brings on more mystery to the book, and that keeps you reading it. I really like the way that the book is written, how it closes in on the characters, and all the tiny details are there for you to read. It is a mysterious story until the end, where it becomes a thriller. When you get close to the end, you begin to see all the terror that the mystery has been hiding from you.

This book is great for kids 10 and above. There are some difficult words, and the end of the book may be too scary for young readers to endure.
